
Tenali, INDIA
Tenali is a city of about 150,000, in the Guntur District of the state of Andhra Pradesh, in southeast India. It is near the coast of the Bay of Bengal, and also near the cities of Guntur and Vijayawada. The nearest major city is Hyderabad, with a population of over 6 million. Hyderabad is one of the most developed cities in India and has become known internationally as an IT center. Hindus, Muslims, Jains, Zoroastrians, and Christians all coexist in Andhra Pradesh. The language of the state is Telugu, although Hindi and English are also spoken, as well as other languages. The children featured on this site come from Tenali and many surrounding smaller towns.
