- The new vehicle is purchased and delivered

- South India anxiously awaits the rainy season and relief from the intense heat

May 2009
- Three SH boys complete apprenticeships and start their own careers
- Isaac receives 17k towards the SH vehicle and takes out a 7k loan for the remainder
- Funds needed for new uniforms; school starts in June
- South India suffers through the worst heat in 30 years
- Elections go well and politicians tolerant of Christianity stay in power
- All of the sick children have recovered from the chicken pox
- India is experiencing a very hot summer with temps already over 100 degrees F
- SH receives $1575 from Empty Bowls, all of which will be used to distribute food in the slums to children
- Isaac requests $600 per month on an ongoing basis to distribute food to children in slums
- Letters from the SH children arrive in Abilene
- The 10th graders celebrate the end of exams, but the results aren't in yet
- Prabhakar and Mahesh decide to take additional entrance exams to apply for a polytechnic school, which is very competitive
- The vehicle fund is at $11,500; Isaac is hoping to have the vehicle when school starts in June, but we have a long way to go
April 2009
- 18 SH children are infected with chicken pox; the others are now all immunized
- Ramesh, Prabhakar, Rajmahendra, and Mahesh take the entrance exams for 11th grade/college
- Harshanikanth, Priyanka (the elder), Malathi, and Sony finish 9th grade and prepare to start the intense 10th year the other four are finishing
- 8 of the children are in need of $150 tuition each
- $8 per child is needed for new school uniforms; school starts in June
- 2008 financial statement is completed
March 2009
