The Children

This children listed on this page started out as what seemed like a huge task - finding a sponsor to support each one of them. That was in May 2006. Only fifteen of them had sponsors by June 1, 2006, our opening day. A short six months later, Sanctuary Home is full. Forty-two children have been provided with a home. Thank you! These kids lived on the streets until they were chosen by their sponsor.

Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. In some situations, semi-orphan designates a child whose one living parent is destitute and unable to care for them. All of these children needed to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. Many people responded to our request and have committed to provide for one or more of these boys and girls.

However, if you would like to sponsor a child, it isn't too late. From time to time, we have situations arise in which the original sponsor is unable to continue their commitment, and we must seek a new sponsor for that child. We also have several sponsors who are sponsoring children temporarily but are willing to sponsor staff members instead if needed. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us at amanda@sanctuaryhome.org, and we can provide details of any children available for sponsorship.

Detailed background information for each child is included on the photo pages. If you'd prefer to read it without loading each child's photo, click here. You may notice that we have removed the children's last names for their privacy.

UPDATE: All of these children have been sponsored! Once the new building is completed, we will have space for 20 more children, and will then put additional names on this site as we search for more sponsors.
