The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Manova already has a sponsor. His sister is Retu Parna.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

Here is a so very pathetic story as I can not find words to bring to your kind notice.  With silent mourning in my heart I come close to you.  A boy who’s name is Manova having a sister younger to him by name Reetu Parna.  In fact the two children were leading very good life.  All of a sudden their father developed Heart problem, after having come to know this the childrens mother disappeared leaving the husband and the 2 children through an illegal means [prostitution].  This brought darkness in their lives.  Father could not rather cannot feed them.  My friend who is very close to me explained this pathetic condition about them.  I personally went and spoke to them.  Condition of father of the 2 children has become worsened.  My heart was very much pathetic and wanted the chidren to be accommodated in SH.  In this particular regard I urge all of your goodselves so humbly to consider these 2 children for they may be able to have their better future through your generous sponsorship.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Manova. First of all, we spent the week observing him play and interact with the other children, and he is a happy boy and we didn't perceive any problems. In Telugu, V is pronounced like a W, so his name sounds like Manowa. As with most of the children, when we put him on the spot with the interview, he was a bit bashful, but he still answered our questions. He is 9 years old and in 2nd class. He is usually smiling and sweet. His favorite subject in school is English, and he likes to play badminton and football (soccer). He asked for prayers for his good studies, good health, and for all the SH kids. He prays for his sponsor to have good health. This is what he said through a translator: "I love playing and the good friends here. I am getting good food, good staff, and caring. God gave good director to us. Daily remembering sponsor Amy and founder also. Greetings to Amy's kids."

On the last night, the SH kids put on a skit for us. A part had been written in for Satan, who tries to tell Joseph to divorce Mary. Manova played this part - he greatly enjoyed performing his many memorized lines and his manaical laugh. He did a great job!
