The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Durga already has a sponsor.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

Here is a girl by name Durga it gives me paying as I speak to your good selves about this girl.  Her mother was not keeping her character safe  rather she was illegal.  Due to that reason her father avoided mother and left this girl.  Durga is very enthusiastic.  As I was preaching in palem (village).  The villagers requested me whether I can do anything to this girl.  I met and spoke to her she was too clever but the condition of the girl was very unkind.  Sometimes she is given meal in the village sometimes she lives with empty stomach.  For your kind information she is not even having proper clothes to cover her body.  On seeing that condition I bought one dress and gave her.  Your good sleves also seen on this picture.  I was pleased by seeing her smiling face at that time.  In this regard request your good sleves to see that  her face always with smiling effect through your kind sponsorship.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Durga. First of all, we spent the week observing her play and interact with the other children, and she is a happy girl and we didn't perceive any problems. Durga is 11 years old and in 5th class. Her favorite subjects in school are Telugu and English. Her favorite games are ring toss and skipping (jumping rope). She has a shy smile, and is usually quiet. She said she is very happy in Sanctuary Home, and she was happy for our visit. When she grows up, she wants to have a job - a desk job, as opposed to being a laborer in the field. She asked that you please pray for her education, and for her future, that she will have a better life.
