The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Teja already has a sponsor.

Child profiles by P. Isaac, Tenali, India.

Here is  a little boy by name Teja  who is 6 years old . His father fell down and died while drawing tadi from the tree. His mother left this boy and found an illegal way by marrying  some one. The boy’s condition was very pathetic. No body could give him food. A woman from the village where the boy stay came to my house to wash clothes. Sometimes she used to give him little food when she was in the Village. She used to bring him over here for food. Just like that he was brought over here when Sis. Amanda was in our house .Rajanikanth explained the merciless condition of this boy to Sis. Amanda and to Bro, Ray. They were very much moved in tears. Sis.Amanda was very warm towards this boy and brought  him in. She permitted us to give him room in S.H. I am very grateful to Sis.Amanda in this regard.  Now the boy is alright forgot all his wounds to his heart  and doing well with the S.H children.

That was before...this is after...

We interviewed Teja along with the other SH children, although it was only his second or third day at the home. He is unsure of his age; we guessed that he was about five. All of the Indian children seem small for their ages, so he might be older, maybe even seven. He has never been to school before, but will now be enrolled. The washerwoman who works regularly for Isaac and Mary brought him from her village, which is about 17 km away from Tenali. He is an orphan and was begging in her village; apparently she has known about him for some time, but took the opportunity to bring him to SH while we were visiting. He was too bashful to talk to us, and would only say that he is "very happy here." He's a small, cute little boy with a sweet smile. He did show us his favorite game: hopping on one foot.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  James 1:27
