The Children
Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.
Levi already has a sponsor.

Here is a girl by name Levi of who’s merciless condition grieves my heart very much. Her father left her mother after two children were born . So far nobody knows where he is. Her mother feeds the two children in other words Levi and her younger sister. She goes door to door for minimum labour to earn food for her and children. When ever her mother comes to the area of S.H she follows her mother and used to stay in S.H for day or two and used to play with children . During the auspicious visit of Sis.Amanda and Bro. Ray , Sis. Ruth to us her mother urged very much to see that Levi is admitted in S.H. Sis. Amanda her goodself moved very much and permitted us to admit her. I am very much grateful on our part as she is allowed in to S.H family.
That was before...this is after...
Levi has a sheepish smile almost all the time, and she seemed to be underfoot a lot, watching, tugging on my shirt, handing me a flower. She is very sweet. We noticed that she seemed to already be acquainted with the other girls, and we were told that she has experience working in Isaac's house. At first, I was appalled at the idea of child labor - but they were helping her earn money for food in exchange for folding some clothes or washing some dishes. Since she's been part of SH, she has wanted to help with those things, and has been told it isn't necessary. She tries to help anyway. All of the girls have a very helping nature, I've noticed. Levi is 10 years old and in 2nd class. She is short with a round face and dimples. She was nervous to talk to us during the interviews, but said that she likes to study math and Telugu, and she likes to play skipping (jumping rope), and she likes to sing hymns. She said she is grateful to be admitted to SH, and asked that we pray for her education.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27
