The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Bhavani already has a sponsor.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

A girl by name Bhavani occupied in my heart and giving me an opportunity to narrate her story.  When she was 4 years baby she lost her father due to HIV.  Recently HIV checkup  was conducted and wife was proved HIV positive but the girl was not effected. She is HIV negative.  One of our preachers found her  and took care of her for sometime but she was proved very faithful in the Lord.  She used to sing and glorify the Lord and also playing with children actively.  Preacher due to the poverty he could not feed her he came in contact with me and urged whether she may be found to be favoured.  In this regard I personally urge all of your good selves to see that her life with bright and prosperous future is carried through by generous sponsorship.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! Here is your report on Bhavani. First, her name is pronounced Bah-wani, but they say it really fast, more like Bwani. I think she is one of the tallest girls - maybe the tallest. She is thin, and her hair is growing out. There are a couple of other girls with short hair, and we saw a number of people in India (women and girls, that is) with shaved heads. I believe she had lice, and if I understand correctly, it's not at all uncommon to shave a head to rid it of lice. It's just part of life, no big deal. Bhavani is a quiet girl, somewhat shy, and plays more with the older girls than the younger ones. Her good friends are Tirupathamma and Jansi. Bhavani is 13 and in 7th class. 7th class is an important year in the Indian school system, and Isaac is paying extra (his own money) to send the 5th, 7th, and 10th graders to private schools. Bhavani is busy with her education this year, busier than students in other grades. Her favorite subjects are science and math. Her favorite games are khokho and kabaddi. She asks for prayers that she will get a good education. She didn't have any comments, and was a bit shy when we put her on the spot with the interview, so I asked something more specific: what do you want to be when you grow up? She said a doctor.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  James 1:27
