The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Bablu already has a sponsor.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

I am really with heart of sadness would like to left your goodselves know the pitiable condition of this boy, whose name is Bablu. SK. In fact his father was hard worker who developed cancer.  Due to lack of proper treatment as they are living in below the line of poverty.  He suffered a lot and died.  After that this boy’s mother became very illegal [a prostitute] and threw him away.  His condition can not be described how merciless it was.  One of my friends with heart of mourning he lead me to have this boy.  As my heart was very much boiled I took a step to keep him in our SH.  In this regard I humbly appeal all of your goodselves to consider this boy and sponsored him so that the life so far he lived may be vanished and may lead him to have a better prosperous future.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Babblu. First of all, we observed him playing and interacting with the other children, and he is very happy and we didn't perceive any problems. He is so mischevious! He is active, very busy, and plays a lot. He is rarely still and isn't bashful at all. His nickname is Koti, which means monkey, and he lives up to the name. The black spot on his lip in the original photo was just a scab where he had scraped it while playing. He is one of the smallest boys, and is a favorite of everyone's. Babblu is 8 years old and in 1st class. He's very smart, and Isaac's oldest daughter Ellen worked with him on the Telugu alphabet (which has many more letters than ours), and he learned it in only one week. His favorite subects in school are math and Telugu. He has a couple of scars on his head from lice, and you can see one of them on the front hairline. (He has no lice now.) He likes to climb trees and play cricket. His comments to us: "Here is very good!" Please pray for his education and especially for his personal safety - because he is so active. He prays for you. He also says, "I am OK here and I can do my best in education."

He is an adorable little boy and liked to be the center of attention, especially when I was taking pictures.

One more thing: at the end of our trip, the children performed a skit of the nativity for us, and Babblu played one of the sheep. He was extremely funny! Thanks again for your support of this sweet little boy.
