The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Rebakha already has a sponsor.

Child profiles by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

Here is a girl by name Rebakha who’s condition is very unkind.  Her father died due to severe heart stroke but her mother could not feed her and kept her as a servant in one house.  The people tortured very much by keeping fire touches on her body she could not bare the persecution and escaped from the house.  One of our church persons found her condition was so miserable and contacted us I personally went and spoke to her she expressed her readiness to be with us.  No she is almost on the streets in a different village from the village she stayed.  She used to beg near the hotels and the shops.  In this regard may I urge your good selves to see that she is found comfort through your generous means of sponsorship which will enable her to lead a prosperous future.  I deeply hope I must see her as a true child to Christ.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Rebakha. First of all, we spent the week observing her play and interact with the other children, and she is a happy girl and we didn't perceive any problems. She is a skinny little girl with a shy smile and an easy laugh. She is one of the smaller girls, and is 10 years old and in 4th class. Her favorite subjects are Telugu and math. She had been listening to the interviews with the other children, and when it was her turn, she had her answers ready. When we asked what games she likes to play, one of the things she said was swimming - so I asked, and they're not allowed to swim now because the canals are dirty and unsafe. She used to swim in the canal in her village, before SH. Her favorite games now are skipping (jumping rope) and ring toss. She often has her arms folded tightly around herself. We asked her to tell us about herself, and she commented on SH, "here is no beating" and "Isaac Uncle cares for us". She asked us to pray for her to have a good education and a better future.

We really enjoyed watching her play with the other girls; she is so sweet and kind. Thanks again for your support of this sweet little girl.
