The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Divya already has a sponsor.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

Here is a girl by name Divya.  She missed her father, the reasons are not at all known.  Her mother used to work in the fields but the earnings were insufficient,  they were not able to have proper food.  Day to day their condition became unkind but her mother is so faithful Christian. When I visiting the congregation on one auspicious day mother of that girl personally requested me to keep the girl in a way that she can lead a better life. But she is very clever and intelligent as well, in this regard I approach your goodselves urging that she should have progress future by your kind way of your involvement through your sponsorship.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Divya. First of all, we spent the week observing her play and interact with the other children, and she is a happy girl and we didn't perceive any problems. She is a skinny little girl with a huge grin and lots of hair, and an easy laugh. Divya is 10 years old and in 4th class. Her favorite subjects are Telugu and English. Her favorite games are skipping (jumping rope) and badminton. According to Rajanikanth, Divya has a helping nature and does chores cheerfully. We asked her about herself, and she talked about Sanctuary Home: "SH is a good place to us." She asked for prayers for good health and a good future.

We really enjoyed watching her play with the other girls; she is delightful and fun. At the end of the trip, the children performed a nativity skit for us, and Divya played the part of an angel. She did a great job memorizing and delivering her lines, and she was really beautiful in her white dress and wings. Thanks again for your support of this sweet little girl.
