The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Sponsor Ramya Here

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

May I bring to your kind notice a pathetic episode of this girl.  Her father was so merciless as well as ferocious.  He used to beat his wife very roudly due to his laziness  to earn food.  He even used to torture her to get food for him.  Due to over drunken condition he developed heart attack. All of a sudden he died.  After becoming widow she has been working hard which could not meet her sufficient food.  In this regard she personally approached me to accommodate her daughter.  I was very much ached by this incident and decided to give her room in SH.  I whole heartedly request your goodselves to see this girl is sponsored to make her life better prosperous.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings again! Here is your report about Ramya. She is the shortest of the girls, and completely adorable. Ramya has a round little face, big dimples, and long, long hair. She is 8 years old and in 2nd class. She is always smiling. Her favorite subjects are math and Telugu. She like to play throwing the ball, and skipping (jumping rope). She jumped rope a lot! She has a very helpful nature, and often makes others laugh. She sat there in the chair as we interviewed her, swinging her legs, and when we were done, she jumped up out of the chair with lots of energy. It was cute. She has asked for prayers for her education and her growth.

In the nativity play, Ramya played the part of a dancer before King Herod, and she did a great job. She likes to sing and dance. She is a sweet and beautiful little girl.
