The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Buddu already has a sponsor.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

Here is a girl by name Buddu it is very pathetic to say she lost both parents.  Iam not aware of the cause of they death.  Different speculations prevail in this particular matter.  Its also so unkind for over looked by the surrounding people over there for your kind information her mother’s parents did look after her sometime now they cannot as they are grown old.  One of her relatives contacted me which a personally went and found her how she is.  She has several aspirations to be met through in this regard I bring this girl to your kind consideration so that she may be blessed with bright to your kind sponsership.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Buddu. She is such a sweet girl. We observed her playing and interacting with the other children, and she seems to be doing well. I noticed after a few days that she seemed a little different; her social skills and movement are a little off. I was told that she has a lot of catching up to do because of her blindness. I didn't realize that she had been blind from birth, until she had that eye surgery several months back. What an amazing gift she's been given! She has great potential to catch up to the other children and be "normal", and according to the staff, there are no physical problems holding her back. I am so happy for her! She is 13 years old and in 3rd grade; she is behind in school also because of her blindness. However, it's not unusual in India to have an older child in an earlier grade. She's not necessarily out of place. When she was blind, she was very lonely, and she cried a lot - how great it was to see her smiling and happy, playing with the other children. Her favorite subject in school is math, particularly counting. She is learning to read. When we asked what games she liked to play, she said every game. Please pray for her good health, her catching up, and her social skills.

The name Buddu means Little One. Thanks again for your support of this sweet little girl.
