The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Prakash already has a sponsor.

I am very much grievious to narrate this pathetic condition to your good selves.  He lost his father during Tsunami as he was fishing in the sea.  He used to be in the sea for 3,4 days on the fisihing.  This Tsunami left agoni in the family.  Generally his mother used to accompany the father while fishing but what productive matter is that time she did not accompany him.  Thereby she is alive.  She grew sickness in her body that made the boy hungry.  He is presently found to be merciless.  One of believers made me to go close to him. Therefore he was considered to be with us.  I requested your good selves to sponser this boy to turn his future prosperous which will anable to become a best citizen.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Prakash. First of all, we spent the week observing him play and interact with the other children, and he is a happy boy and we didn't perceive any problems. During the interview, he was serious and shy, but he was a lot more outgoing when with his friends. He is 10 years old and in 4th class. He told us that he feels very happy. (In Telugu, happiness is santosham.) His favorite subject in school is science, and he likes to play badminton. He is a fast runner, and he likes to race. We asked him to tell us about himself, and he talked about Sanctuary Home, saying "everything is good in SH," and that he is getting monthly special (medical) care. He is still recovering from pneumonia, and the doctor has him on a special diet with extra foods (milk and boiled eggs). He has asked for prayers for his good studies, and for all the SH kids. Prakash is a sweet little boy; thanks again for supporting him.
