The Children

Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.

Navakiran already has a sponsor.

Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India

My hear bleeds as I explained the pathetic condition of  this boy his father was mentally  effected.  Later became panic in other words psycho.  One day the family was saddened through his departure from his house so far the where about’s of him are not at all known.  It is hard on mother’s life to feed this boy.  She was working and working but could not earn sufficient food.  If at all one women works in the field on a day hardly she gets one dollar. Later she grew sick and found helpless in other words almost of bed ridden.  I am able to find this boy through one of the preachers connected to me.  I personally went to the village I found him living in the street situation broke my heart I urge your good selves in this regard to consider this boys bright future to become faithful Christian to see that is sponsored with.

That was before...this is after...

Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Navakiran. First of all, he seems like a normal boy, and we didn't perceive any problems. We didn't see as much of him as some of the other children, because he is very busy with school. He is 14 and in 10th class, and this year is the most important one in the Indian school system. It's very important that he get good grades so he can go on to college (like our 11th and 12th grades). After that is university, if the student does well enough. Navakiran will be the first SH child to finish 10th class. Isaac will be getting information to us regarding the cost of college, and it's our intention to provide this for the SH children when the time comes. By the way, Isaac's youngest daughter is also in 10th class. Because of the importance of some classes (5th, 7th, and 10th), Isaac is using his own money to send those children to private schools, which are apparently much better than the public schools in India.

When we interviewed him, Navakiran was trying to be serious and not smile, but when he does smile, he has big dimples. His favorite subjects are math and physics. He doesn't have much time to play because of school, but at other times, his favorite games are cricket and kabaddi. He has asked for prayers for him, for good marks in school, and especially during his big exams in March. He is very anxious about doing well on them. He says he is grateful for SH and for his sponsor. When we interviewed him, he was recovering from a fever, and was also somewhat subdued for this reason. According to Rajanikanth, Navakiran gets along well with the other kids and has no problems. On the day we went to the beach, Rajanikanth went to the schools to ask permission for the day off for the students in those important classes, and it was granted - Navakiran enjoyed himself.
