the children
Some of the children shown on this site are without a sponsor, although all forty-eight currently live in Sanctuary Home. Previously, they lived on the streets. Those classified as orphans have no parents to care for them. Those classified as semi-orphans were also in a merciless situation: they have one living parent who has remarried, and according to their culture, they are not welcome in the new household. Some have a parent who can't care for them, and some have been abandoned. All of these children need to have their physical needs met, as well as their emotional needs and an education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please email us to find out which children need sponsors at this time. Update: All forty-eight children are sponsored. Once we complete the new SH building, we will need sponsors for an additional twenty children.
Gopi already has a sponsor.
Child profile by P.Isaac, Tenali, India
I get know what’s as the situation is very grevious. His father died out of cancer, mother could not take care of his food and other things. He developed urinary trouble but, surgical intervention set him right. Condition is so pathetic in which he is left. One of my friends gave his address. I personally found that is on the street. May I therefore urge your goodselves to come forward to make his future better and prosperous through your kind sponsorship.
That was before...this is after...
Greetings! I wanted to tell you about our interview with Gopi. First of all, we spent the week observing him play and interact with the other children, and he is a happy boy and we didn't perceive any problems. There are two boys named Gopi, so this Gopi usually goes by Ch. Gopi. I don't know why they say Ch instead of just C. Gopi is 13 and in 7th class. This year is an important year for him in school. Because 5th, 7th, and 10th grades are so important, Isaac is spending extra money of his own to send the SH kids in those grades to the private schools for the year. Gopi's favorite subjects are Telugu and English. His favorite games are caroms and cricket. Gopi is always smiling. He is tall and skinny and very friendly. We asked him some questions, and he wanted you to know that the food at SH is good, and he gets as much as he wants. He also says that they treat him and the others like their own children. He asks for prayers for his health, especially the fainting, which can be very dangerous in a place like India. The children go back and forth between school, SH, and Isaac's home regularly, and along the way there are many dangers, such as canals, stairs, and traffic. Isaac says Gopi doesn't go alone - still, it's dangerous for him should he faint.Regarding his health: he did have the stomach surgery, as you know, but there are still some problems. He is sometimes weak and has fainting spells, which last several days, and then he seems fine again. He has been going back to the doctor who did his surgery, which is 1.5 hours away in Repalle, but this doctor hasn't been very helpful in diagnosing the cause of the fainting. Gopi needs to get a different doctor and have a "scan" of some sort. Ray was saying that it sounded like the symptoms of petit mal seizures - but of course, that's only speculation. Isaac should be getting us more information regarding Gopi's needs and his health, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27
